General Information
Travel Insurance:
Every one who plans to trek with us must have individual travel
insurance. Various policies are available, but what ever policy you
choose, assure that is cover a minimum of US$ 10,000.00 & includes
medical and accidental expenditure like extra travel costs. A policy
arranged with one of the companies we recommended is probably the
best. You are strongly recommended to adopt a policy which also
provides cancellation and extra baggage fees. Expedition members with
a family are advised to make sure that they will be responsibly
provided for in case of accidents.
Equipment:
We will provide equipment like sleeping bags, foam mattresses and
tents. All you need to bring are your personal wear like walking boots
and sand shoes, a water and wind proof
jacket, woolen shirts, t-shirts, a thick pullover, shorts/skirts, and
trousers/track suits. Thermal underwear is necessary for high
altitudes and cottons are best for lower and warmer altitudes. Also
don’t forget a water bottle, Swiss army
knife sewing kit, torch light with spare batteries extra boot laces,
sun glasses, sun cream, and personal medical supplies. Bring an
elongated canvas bag or duffel bag to put your clothing and equipment
in. There will be porters to carry the kit bag.
What to Wear?
Medium weight and easy to wash cottons can be a good choice year round
in the
Kathmandu
Valley.
From October to February, woolen Sweaters, Jackets or similar other
warm outfits are necessary. Short or long sleeved shirts are good
March through May. From to September, light and loose garments are
advisable.
Acute Mountain Sickness:
There is real need for you to worry about the altitude
Sickness. But you should be aware that it does affect some client's
performance. Through our treks are planned to allow time for
acclimatize; it is unknown to anyone how they will react to high
altitudes. For the strenuous treks, the vital factor, advice here is
to descend to lower altitude. Future, If
any assistance is required, our trekking guide guides is really at all
time.
Tipping:
It is standard practice on trks to tip the
trekking staff, which includes trekking/ sirdar,
cook, kitchen boy, route man & porters. Please allow US$ 2 trekking
day per person for tips strenuous trek & US$ 1.00 for soft trek. Your
group should present the tip tp your guide
as part of a departing on the last day of your trek/tour. Guide will
distribute funds to the Nepalese staff.
Do
not forget to carry:
1. Strong
trekking boots with couple of stocks, sport shoes or sandal for
evening.
2. Sun
glass, cold cream, day pack, walking stick if you need personal
expenses, down jacket for cool season. A rain coat is needed for the
uncertainties of weather.
3. Personal
medicine for minor accidents/happenings/sickness.
4. Chocolates,
Lozenges glucose and dry fruits if you needed while climbing/
trekking.
